On a side note, since the Skoda press conference was scheduled for late on Jan 17, most of the media people were quite tired from all the walking and working. Most of us hadn’t had a chance to eat anything and the Skoda people were nice enough to empathise with us as they served some refreshments to the arriving media representatives. Even more refreshing than the satisfying bite-sized snacks was the speech from the Skoda spokesperson, who never once looked like he was reading off his cue cards; because he wasn’t. It never once felt like sitting in on a product presentation from a top executive and it was more like listening to another car lover share his passion for cars with us. The Skoda press conference was a nice change of pace for us on Day 1 of Mobility Expo after having been through a bunch of presentations from most major car brands in India.
Thank you Skoda for that experience! And for the snacks too! Now, let me do my part and talk about cars with you.
Rank 1: 2025 Kylaq
- This is the first time Skoda the Kylaq sub-4m SUV was on public display
- Even the dealers were going to receive the display car only closer to the start of delivery (Jan 27, 2025)
- The Kylaq is an exciting product from Skoda as it starts at just Rs. 7.89; for that price, it’s like buying the Kushaq but for some Rs. 3.0 lakh less
- Even as the cars sales are slowing, the Kylaq commands a 4-month waiting period
- It’s one of only a few turbo petrol cars available at a price of under Rs. 8.0 lakh
- No wonder it takes the top spot for on this list
Rank 2: 2025 Elroq
- The Elroq is the only electric car at Skoda’s pavilion in production-ready form
- What makes this car exciting is that the Skoda spokesperson confirmed that they are bringing at least one EV to India this year
- Since the Elroq was the one they chose to display at the Mobility Expo 2025, we are pretty confident that this is the car that will make it to their Indian showrooms later this year
- The Elroq will mark Skoda’s entry into the electric SUV space and you can read more about it at the link below
Rank 3: Vision 7S
- Next spot goes to the futuristic Vision 7S electric SUV concept
- While we don’t expect the production version to be as exotic as the concept on display, in its early-stage concept form, it certainly looked like a showstopper and one that would make your walk to the Skoda’s pavilion worth the effort
- The Vision 7S is still at least a couple of years away from entering mass production but it does give us a peak into their future EV designs
Rank 4: 2025 Octavia RS (VRS)
- The poppy neon-green Octavia VRS (or RS if you prefer the Skoda India’s nomenclature) was another eye candy at the Mobility Expo 2025
- The great thing about this car was not just its colour or the performance, but the fact that Skoda confirmed to us that the Octavia RS will go on sale in India in 2025
- Considering the limited demand for such high performance sedans, we should assume that it’d come as a direct import and command steep asking price considering because of the heavy import duties
Rank 5: 2025 Superb 4WD
- The Superb on display at the Skoda India’s Expo pavilion was a funny car since it’s a sedan and the car had 4WD
- We generally associate 4WD with SUVs or crossovers but seeing a sedan with 4-wheel drivetrain makes it quite unique
- It’s worth noting that being a Czech carmaker, they have to have traction in all four wheels as it snows heavily in their country; so it’s actually quite common to see all kinds of cars with 4WD in their country
- Another thing that makes it quite interesting is that the new Superb showcased at the Expo would go on sale in India sometime in 2025
- Finally, they also said that they are open to bringing back the diesel engines if there’s enough demand
- Since BS6, most carmakers have been shying away from hyping up, or even talking about diesel engines
- The European carmakers actually do have some fantastic diesel engines in their portfolio
Rank 6: 2025 Kodiaq
- Skoda didn’t stop at Superb; they not only showcased the new Kodiaq but also confirmed that they would put it up on sale in India sometime in 2025
- This fact makes it the fifth car lined up for the Indian market and showcased by Skoda at the Mobility Expo 2025
- This time around, Skoda representative also confirmed that they are considering bringing the 5-seat version of the Kodiaq to widen the appeal of their SUV
Rank 7: Kushaq Black
- Finally, we had the Kushaq Monte Carlo in stealthy black paint
- The display car not only had black paint job but also black interiors, upholstery and black exterior badging
- Other than that, there’s nothing all that special about the car and that’s why we placed it quite low on this list
