What Are The Pros And Cons Of The 2024 Tata Curvv?
The pros or advantages of Tata Curvv 2024 are:
- Good pricing, which is something we rarely get to say about a Tata car; unlike other Tata cars, from base to top, the Curvv comes across as competitively priced
- For the starting price of a C-segment petrol SUV, the Curvv brings a diesel powertrain and a unique coupe SUV styling
- Best-in-class boot space of 500 litres and a fantastic ground clearance of 208mm
- Choice of manual as well as automatic transmission with a diesel engine allows diesel car buyers interested in a stylish car to consider the Curvv; the Basalt only gets petrol engine options
- Style-conscious decisions like large 18-inch machined alloy wheels and flush door handles help the Curvv’s coupe design pop; the Basalt gets up to 16-inch alloy wheels
- Segment-first features like flush door handles, powered tailgate
- 22.4kmpl mileage is the best in class among diesel-SUVs; the diesel-DCT mileage figures aren’t available but you can expect good numbers there as well since DCT is an efficient kind of automatic
The 2024 Tata Curvv has the following shortcomings or problems:
- The automatic transmission carries a steep premium of Rs. 1.50 lakh when even Tata’s more expensive Safari and Harrier automatic only cost Rs. 1.30 lakh more than the comparable manual variants; we expect an automatic transmission of DCT, TC aur CVT type to cost Rs. 1.0 lakh more than the manual
- Several international automakers with DCT automatics have either replaced or discontinued their DCTs in India as India’s harsh driving and climatic conditions make it difficult for them to prove their long-term reliability (Also Read: Discontinued DCT Equipped Cars In India)
- Even the top variant of the Curvv doesn’t get features like rear window curtains, dual-zone auto AC and telescopic steering; if you also factor in some of the less useful features, then the list would also include head-up display, traction control and power adjustment for front passenger seat
- Poor feature distribution — neither the base nor mid-spec variants get enough must-have features to become easy recommendations; for instance, you can’t get TPMS and rear armrest unless you buy a variant with a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels (Creative Plus S); split folding rear seats are only available in top 2 variants; MG Astor offers split rear seats, rear armrest, auto AC, rear defogger, power mirrors, front armrest and a touchscreen as standard in a variant costing Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-sh)
- While the information about the Curvv was disseminated pretty accurately and consistently across platforms, some ambiguity remains as neither their brochure nor their website clearly specifies if the Curvv even gets front parking sensors; with the help of their configurator, we were able to confirm that they are available in Creative Plus S and higher variants
- Adaptive cruise control is not available with the manual transmission variants
What Is The Price Of 2024 Tata Curvv Diesel Variants?
The Tata Curvv is available in 6 main variants — Smart, Pure Plus, Creative, Creative Plus S, Accomplished S and Accomplished Plus A. Pure Plus S and Creative S are the sunroof variants of the respective non-sunroof variants.
Further, there are 2 powertrain options:
- 1.5L diesel-manual
- 1.5L diesel-auto (7-speed DCT)
The 1.5L diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission is available in all the variants. The Curvv diesel prices with this powertrain range between Rs. 11.50 lakh and Rs. 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The automatic transmission with the diesel engine is available with all variants except the Curvv Smart variant and Curvv Creative variant. The prices of Curvv diesel-automatic variants with the diesel engine start from Rs. 14.0 lakh and go up to Rs. 19.0 lakh. This automatic transmission carries a premium of Rs. 1.50 lakh over the diesel-manual.

While this variant doesn’t get a bunch of important features, if you are on a tight budget and you’re okay with getting some aftermarket accessories, then the Curvv Smart diesel is worth considering.
2024 Tata Curvv Smart vs Pure Plus Variant – Feature Comparison
In addition to the diesel-manual powertrain, the Pure Plus variant of the Curvv also gets the DCT automatic option. This variant will cost you Rs. 12.50 lakh with manual transmission, which is Rs. 1.0 lakh higher than the base Smart trim. For the automatic transmission, you will have to pay another Rs. 1.50 lakh.

- Auto AC
- Split-folding rear seatbacks
- Rear defogger
- Wireless Android Auto, Apple Carplay
- Keyless entry w/ push-button start/stop
- Boot lamp
This variant covers the basics quite well. But at the incremental cost of Rs. 1.0 lakh, this variant doesn’t even come close to justifying the value against the cost of upgrade. The Curvv Pure Plus diesel variant is not recommended. Because of a high value feature like sunroof, the Pure Plus S is a better option than this one.
2024 New Tata Curvv Diesel Pure Plus vs Pure Plus S Variant – Feature Comparison
The Pure Plus S gets the same powertrain options as the lower Pure Plus variant. The Pure Plus S will cost you Rs. 13.20 lakh with the manual and Rs. 14.70 lakh with the automatic. The Pure Plus S automatic is Rs. 70,000 pricier than the Pure Plus.

While the Pure Plus S also doesn’t add a tonne of functionality, it more than makes up for the price premium from the base trim with larger wheels, stylish wheel covers and a panoramic sunroof. If you don’t wish to spend any more, then the Curvv Pure Plus S diesel worth buying with manual as well as automatic transmission.
2024 New Tata Curvv Diesel Pure Plus vs Creative Variant – Feature Comparison
The Creative variant of the Curvv only offers the diesel-manual powertrain option as the base Pure variant. The Creative variant costs Rs. 13.70 lakh which is Rs. 1.20 lakh more than the Pure Plus variant.

The Curvv Creative diesel variant offers a poor value for money than any of the higher variants and only justifies about 83% of the price gap over the base model. Still, this is our top recommendation for buyers who want the Curvv without the sunroof. With the sunroof, the Creative S naturally manages to achieve a better VFM of 114%.
2024 Tata Curvv Diesel Creative vs Creative S Variant – Feature Comparison
The Creative S also offers both transmission options and only adds Rs. 50,000 to the asking price. The Curvv Creative S diesel-manual costs Rs. 14.20 lakh while the automatic costs Rs. 15.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

All things considered, the Creative S is our top recommendation, which will satisfy most Curvv diesel buyers. The addition of sunroof and some other features for a reasonable incremental cost of just Rs. 50,000 makes it an easier recommendation for Curvv diesel buyers.
2024 Tata Curvv Diesel Creative S vs Creative Plus S Variant – Feature Comparison
The Creative Plus S base diesel-manual costs Rs. 15.20 lakh which is Rs. 1.0 lakh more expensive than lower Creative S trim. The Creative Plus S diesel-automatic costs Rs. 16.70, which is Rs. 1.50 lakh more than the respective diesel-manual variant.

While you are ready to spend big money on your next car and are open to considering the Curvv Creative Plus S diesel variant, we’ll instead suggest that you add a bit more to your budget and buy the Accomplished S diesel variant. It will provide a more well-rounded ownership experience and another Rs. 1.0 lakh is certainly worth that premium in the long ownership period.
2024 Tata Curvv Diesel Creative Plus S vs Accomplished S Variant – Feature Comparison
Just like the lower Creative Plus S variant, the Accomplished S variant of the Tata Curvv also offers all diesel powertrain options. This variant is exactly Rs. 1.0 lakh more expensive than the lower Creative Plus S variant. The Accomplished S variant with base diesel-manual costs Rs. 16.20 lakh and with the top diesel-manual powertrain, it costs Rs. 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom). If you want to buy this variant with the automatic transmission, then you’ll have to pay another Rs. 1.50 lakh.

2024 Tata Curvv Diesel Accomplished S vs Accomplished Plus A Variant – Feature Comparison
The top-spec Curvv Accomplished Plus A variant gets the same diesel-manual and diesel-automatic powertrain options. It costs Rs. 17.70 lakh with manual and Rs. 19.0 lakh with the automatic. The top-spec Accomplished Plus A variant brings the whole shebang to the mix and feels quite well-loaded considering the asking price of just Rs. 19.0 lakh (ex-showroom) for a diesel SUV. However, you should consider this only if you want the ADAS tech. Just don’t expect it to work flawlessly from day 1. The car’s software may get updates in the future based on the improvements and feedback Tata engineers get. So, it should get better with time and buying the top model makes your purchase that much more future proof.
Which Variant Of The Tata Curvv Diesel Should You Buy?
For the manual buyers, the Creative and Creative S variants earn our top recommendation. Creative variant is the best variant for those buyers who would like to have a feature-rich car without a sunroof and Creative S is best suitable for those who want a sunroof.
Even though the Creative variant offers better value for money only than the Pure Plus variant, it is still our top recommendation because of its pricing and good balance of features. It offers many must-have features which will improve your ownership experience. Even with this set of features, you may need to compromise with the value but if you don’t want to compromise then you should consider the Creative S variant.
If you are considering a higher variant, then you should consider the Accomplished S variant as it offers far superior features than any other variant. While Creative S offers a good set of features, it is still not as compelling as the Accomplished S variant.
For buyers who are considering Curvv specially for its body, should buy the base Smart variant and customize it with some aftermarket accessories. Alternatively, you can also consider the Pure Plus S variant.
For the automatic buyers, the recommendation is not much different from the manual transmission. The Creative and Creative S is suitable for most buyers. In the higher variants, only the Accomplished S variant is worth considering for its modern-day features.
If you want the ADAS tech feature then the Accomplished Plus A is a good value for money option and you should consider it.
