1. 6 Airbags Now Standard
One major change is that it now gets 6 airbags as standard across all variants meant for carrying passengers. That means Ambulance and Cargo variants still get 2 airbags.
2. New 6-Seat Layout w/ Captain Seats
The other notable change is that it now gets a new 6-seat layout option along with the usual 5-seat configuration. The older 7-seat option is discontinued. This new 6-seat configuration includes 2nd row seats similar to the ones in the front but with different bolstering on the seat base and backrest. Based on the official image, the headrest also appears to be different and slightly smaller than that of the front seats.
While we can’t confirm this yet, we believe that the 6-seat layout of the Eeco also gets slide and recline feature in the 2nd row seats.
Unfortunately, the 6-seat option is not available with the AC variant and only available in the Tour V & Eeco Std base model. According to our source, the Eeco/Tour V 6 seater is also not available with the CNG bi-fuel option at the time of introduction.
Update: Please note that the Eeco’s commercial version, Tour V, has had a 6-seat option for a while.
3. Up To 6x 3-point Seatbelts
In addition to the 4 additional airbags (2x front side thorax and 2x curtain airbags), Maruti have further improved the safety quotient of the Eeco with 3-point seatbelts for all occupants. This means, regardless of which seating configuration you buy, 5-seater or 6-seater, you will get 3-point seatbelts for all occupants.
Once again, given the customised requirements of the buyers interested in the Cargo and Ambulance variants, they still get only 2x 3-point seatbelts for the front row occupants.
