While the Kia Syros and Sonet share the same length, that’s where their similarities end. The Syros is 10mm wider, 55mm taller and has a 50mm longer wheelbase than the Sonet. Thanks to the slightly larger dimensions, the Kia Syros is expected to offer a more spacious cabin than the Sonet, especially in terms of shoulder and headroom. The longer wheelbase also results in an 8 litre larger boot. Additionally, the Kia Syros will offer reclinable 2nd row seats. Only the Hyundai Venue and the now-discontinued Ford EcoSport offer this feature in the B2 segment.
The Kia Seltos, which is a C-segment SUV, is 370mm longer than the Syros. However, it is 45mm shorter than the Syros. Both SUVs share the same width of 1800mm. The Seltos, however, offers a 60mm longer wheelbase, resulting in a 40 litre larger boot. The additional height of the Syros should help it offer more headroom for all passengers. Although the Syros is not as long as the Seltos, we expect both SUVs to offer similar amounts of legroom.

It’s interesting to see that the Kia Syros won’t get auto-clutch manual transmission. Customers seem to have rejected this transmission, which is why in the last year or so, Kia have begun offering full-manual (3-pedal) with their engines — at least as an option.
However, the Syros will be the first car in Kia’s portfolio to get the 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a full-manual transmission.
