What Are The Pros And Cons Of Kia Syros Petrol?
The pros or advantages of 2025 Kia Syros petrol are:
- Stronger road presence than a typical sub-4m SUV because of the unique design and a wide body
- Sliding and reclining rear seats make it quite a spacious car despite its compact dimensions
- The base model costs less than the Venue turbo petrol and Sonet turbo petrol and comes reasonably equipped too
- Full-loaded top variant exceeds the features we typically see in the top variants of small SUVs
- A unique car, which is suitable not only as a self-drive car but also as a chauffeur-driven option and the small footprint makes it easy to manoeuvre in the city even for people who aren’t accustomed to driving often
- Respectable mileage figures from the petrol-manual and petrol-automatic powertrains
The 2025 Kia Syros petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
- The petrol top variant costing Rs. 16.80 lakh (ex-showroom) comes across as obscenely overpriced compared to well-equipped cars like the Mahindra 3XO top model
- If you’re interested in buying one of the higher variants, the on-road prices may be much higher than bigger Hyundai Creta Electric and possibly the Maruti EVitara; not to mention, the fuel and maintenance costs savings that will come from owning an EV
- The eVitara will get sliding and reclining rear seats and a 150mm longer wheelbase with a potentially comparable starting price tag
- Speaking of price again, if you are considering the Syros, it means you don’t mind an oddball design; in that case, you can buy the much bigger MG Windsor for a whole lot less and save a lot more during the ownership (the Windsor also gets reclining rear seats but no sliding option)
- Dual-clutch automatic transmissions are yet to prove their long-term reliability; the earliest batches of the Hyundai-Kia DCT cars are just beginning to age out of their warranties; so, we’ll find more about their long-term reliability in the coming 5 years
- Heavy product overlap with the Sonet, Seltos and Carens (and the high price of higher variants) makes this a car specifically designed for a small bunch of buyers who want a small SUV with good back seat space but also want to occasionally drive the car themselves
- Sliding and reclining rear seats, which is the USP of the Syros, isn’t even available in the lower 2 variants
- DCT automatic isn’t available in the lower two variants while manual transmission isn’t available in the higher two variants

The base variant seems to have several must-have features but you may miss the following notable features:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Rear parcel tray
- Rear armrest
- Split-folding rear seats
- Auto AC
Even the base model of the Syros gets a decent number of features considering its expected price of Rs. 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom). What hurts here is that you can get an aftermarket parcel tray but you can’t get features like split rear seats or height-adjustable driver seat. These are pretty essential for some buyers. Still, it comes across as a value for money option if you can manage the ownership without the specified features. It’s a solid option for buyers on a tight budget.
2025 Kia Syros HTK vs HTK (O) Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The HTK (O) variant of the Syros also gets the same powertrain option like the base HTK variant and it is Rs. 1.0 lakh more costlier than the base trim.

This variant misses out on the following features:
- LED headlamps
- LED DRLs
- Auto AC
- Split-folding rear seats
- Rear parcel tray
- Rear armrest
- Cruise control
- Slide and reclining rear seats (which is essentially the USP of this car)
The HTK (O) variant doesn’t seem to offer enough must-have features to warrant an upgrade. Even with the sunroof, which has a high perceived value, it doesn’t justify the incremental price gap over the base model. We’ll advise you to skip this one and either choose the base model or stretch your budget for a higher trim.
2025 Kia Syros Petrol HTK (O) vs HTK Plus Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
In addition to the petrol-manual powertrain, the HTK Plus variant of the Syros also gets the DCT automatic option. The HTK Plus manual costs Rs. 11.50 lakh whereas the automatic transmission option will cost you Rs. 12.80 lakh. The HTK Plus variant is Rs. 1.50 lakh more costlier than the lower variant with the manual transmission.

- Rear washer wiper

- 360 camera
- Keyless entry and button start/stop (only with automatic)
While this variant also doesn’t get a few must-have features we expect from a car at Rs. 12.0 – 13.0 lakh (ex-showroom) price range, it manages to strike a far better balance in terms of must-have and good-to-have features as well as value for money. For the additional features over the base variant and the incremental price gap, it justifies about 86% of the price gap with the manual transmission. With the automatic, though, it manages to completely justify the incremental price over the base model.
The HTK Plus variant of the Syros is our top recommendation for all Syros buyers. Here, you get a good balance of features and value for money. We’ll strongly advise Syros petrol-manual buyers to consider upgrading to the automatic for better value for money.
New Kia Syros Petrol HTK Plus vs HTX Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The HTX variant also gets the same powertrain option as the lower HTK Plus variant. The HTX turbo petrol-manual costs Rs. 13.30 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 1.80 lakh more than the HTK Plus. With the automatic transmission option, it cost Rs. 14.60 lakh which is also Rs. 1.80 lakh more expensive than the lower HTK Plus trim.

You may miss the following features in the HTX variant:

The HTX variant seems to get most of the must-have features for its asking price but, because of the lower variant being a bit loaded, this one doesn’t come even close to earning our buying recommendation. We’ll suggest that Syros automatic buyers skip this variant and consider the HTX Plus. For Syros manual buyers also, it’s better to skip this and buy a lower variant; preferably with the automatic transmission.
2025 Kia Syros Petrol HTX vs HTX Plus Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
HTX Plus variant onwards, the Syros only offers the dual-clutch automatic transmission option and it costs Rs. 16.0 lakh which is Rs. 1.40 lakh more expensive than the lower trim.

Even in this variant, you may miss features like:

The HTX Plus variant comes across as a decent option for Syros automatic buyers, especially if you strictly want to stay away from ADAS features. However, if you prefer to buy a more future-proof vehicle and get a little better value for money, then the Syros top model, HTX Plus (O), is also worth a look for petrol-automatic buyers.
2025 Kia Syros Petrol HTX Plus vs HTX Plus (O) Variant — Price, Feature Comparison
The top variant HTX Plus (O) of the Syros also gets the same powertrain option as the lower HTX Plus trim and it costs Rs. 80,000 more than the HTX Plus variant.

The top model of the Syros petrol variants delivers about 90% of value over the base model with the additional features. It’s only a shade better than the HTX Plus and if you want to better future-proof your car, then this is the variant to consider.
Which Variant Of The Kia Syros Petrol Should You Buy?
The recommendation for Syros petrol buyers is straightforward. For budget-conscious buyers, the base HTK variant is a fantastic option even though it misses out on a few critical features. HTK (O) and HTX are worth skipping for offering poor value for money.
The mid-spec HTK Plus is our top recommendation and we strongly advise you to consider buying it with the automatic transmission for even better value for money. HTX Plus and HTX Plus (O) are also worth considering for the unique upmarket features but they aren’t appealing enough to warrant an upgrade for most buyers.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Kia Syros Petrol?
Among the B2-segment SUVs with a turbo petrol engine, the Syros’s engine offers equivalent power and torque output figures just like other cars in the segment. The Syros also offers the option of a manual and an automatic transmission. The Syros’s automatic is a 7-speed DCT unit. Kia are yet to reveal the mileage figures of the Syros petrol.
This is the first time Kia are offering the 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a full-manual transmission. The Sonet, since its launch in late 2020, has continued to offer the turbo petrol with the auto-clutch manual transmission.
