What Are The Pros And Cons Of Maruti Suzuki Celerio?
The pros or advantages of 2025 Maruti Suzuki Celerio are:
- 6 airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers as standard make the Celerio a safe choice in the segment regardless of what variant you pick
- Insane mileage figures of 25.0 – 26.7kmpl with petrol and 34.43kmpkg with CNG (Fuel Cost Calculator)
- Fairly large dimensions for the segment with a decent ground clearance of 170mm
- Simple price structure makes it easy to pick a suitable variant
- Maruti’s wide service network and easy availability of parts and skilled labour
- 3 powertrain options — 1.0L petrol manual, 1.0L petrol-AMT automatic, 1.0L CNG-manual
The 2025 Maruti Suzuki Celerio has the following shortcomings or problems:
- While the base model is well loaded to achieve high crash test rating, it doesn’t get safety features like internally-adjustable outside mirrors and day/night inside mirror
- Some features are missing even in the top model such as TPMS, front armrest, auto AC, rear AC vents
- CNG bi-fuel not available as an option with the suitably-loaded ZXI variant
- The slightly larger and more powerful Tiago has a broader price range making it much cheaper for budget-conscious buyers while offering better loaded higher variants than the Celerio
- No CNG-automatic option
- No 2-cylinder CNG option to liberate more space in the boot for CNG buyers
- Missing features like rear parking camera, adjustable headrests, front centre armrest
- Bubbly styling may not be to everyone’s taste

The base model of the Celerio 2025 seems to have several must-have features but you may miss the following notable features:
- Music system
- Power windows
- Remote central locking
- Day/night inside mirror
- Internally adjustable outside mirrors
This variant is not suitable even for buyers on a tight budget. It’s missing a few critical features like a music system, power windows, remote central locking, internally adjustable mirrors, day/night inside mirror. We expect these features from a car at this price. We strongly recommend stretching your budget and considering one of the higher variants of the Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio LXI vs VXI Variant – Price, Feature Comparison
The VXI variant of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio costs Rs. 5.99 lakh, which is Rs. 35,500 more than the base LXI variant. The VXI trim is also available with the 5-speed AMT automatic transmission for an additional Rs. 50,000 as it retails for Rs. 6.49 lakh.
For CNG bi-fuel buyers, the VXI variant is the only option available. It costs Rs. 6.89 lakh, which is Rs. 90,000 more than the petrol-manual powertrain.

This variant misses out on the following features:
- Rear defogger
- Rear wiper & washer
- Music system
- Remote central locking
- Tilt steering
While this variant has a bunch of must-have features, it’s still missing a music system, steering-mounted controls, remote central locking and adjustable steering wheel. The additional features of the VXI variant almost justify the Rs. 35,500 price gap. For even budget-conscious buyers who are considering an entry-level variant, VXI is not recommended. For Celerio VXI manual as well as automatic buyers, we’ll still suggest stretching the budget just a bit more as the next ZXI variant costs Rs. 39,500 more and offers far better value and balance of features.
For the CNG bi-fuel buyers, the Celerio VXI is the only option. So there’s not much choice. Considering the upfront price gap and lower fuel costs of the Celerio CNG, you can expect to recover the higher ex-showroom price in about 52,000km (based on March 2025 Delhi fuel prices).
Maruti Suzuki Celerio VXI vs ZXI Variant – Price, Feature Comparison
The price difference between the Celerio’s VXI and ZXI variants is Rs. 39,500 for the manual as well as the automatic transmission. The Celerio ZXI manual costs Rs. 6.39 lakh while the ZXI automatic costs Rs. 6.89 lakh.

You may miss the following features in the ZXI variant:
- Height adjustable driver seat
- Keyless entry w/ push-button start/stop
- Auto AC
- Front armrest
- Adjustable headrests
- TPMS
According to our algorithm, these features easily justify Rs. 40,000 of incremental cost over the VXI and it offers better value for money than either of the lower LXI and VXI variants. The added features will also offer a much better ownership experience than either of the 2 lower variants. So even for buyers who are looking for a basic car, the ZXI variant is our top recommendation.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio ZXI vs ZXI Plus Variant – Price, Feature Comparison
The top-spec ZXI Plus variant adds Rs. 48,000 to the ex-showroom price of the lower ZXI variant. It’s also available with a manual as well as an AMT automatic, with the latter costing an additional Rs. 50,000. The Celerio ZXI Plus variant costs Rs. 6.87 lakh with the manual and Rs. 7.37 lakh with the automatic.

You may miss the following features in the ZXI Plus variant:
- Auto AC
- Front armrest
- Adjustable headrests
- TPMS
Considering the cost of high-value features like keyless entry, touchscreen and alloy wheels, the ZXI Plus variant of the Celerio manages to offer the best value for money compared to the lower variants. However, considering the Celerio’s segment and price range, we believe that most of these features fall in the good-to-have category. So, we’ll leave it up to you to decide if you should upgrade to the top model or not. The ZXI variant of the Celerio earns our top recommendation and will suit the needs of most buyers instead of the ZXI Plus.
Which Variant Of The Maruti Suzuki Celerio Should You Buy?
Among the Celerio’s petrol-manual variants, the base variant is not recommended. You should stretch your budget a little more and get the ZXI trim for a better ownership experience. The VXI is also not recommended. You’re better off skipping this option. The ZXI variant is our top recommendation as it includes most essential features and offers better value compared to the LXI and VXI variants.
The ZXI variant offers much better value for money than the VXI trim. The ZXI Plus top variant is the best value for money option and totally worth upgrading. However, it mainly adds good-to-have features. So, upgrading to this variant depends on your feature preferences.
For the Maruti Celerio automatic buyers also, the recommendation is the same. The ZXI variant is our top recommendation as it offers a great balance of value and features. It doesn’t cost all that much over the VXI trim and has a lot of must-have features. The top variant is also a good value for money option and it adds some good-to-have features. Based on your preferences, you can also upgrade to the ZXI Plus variant for additional good-to-have features.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The Maruti Suzuki Celerio Petrol?
In terms of engine specs, the Celerio stands out with a mind-blowing mileage figure of around 25.24kmpl. This is unheard of from a petrol car. Until a few years ago, such mileage figures sounded unreal even from a diesel car. Getting such official mileage figures from a petrol car speaks volumes about Maruti Suzuki’s engineering prowess in terms of efficiency. The Celerio CNG also has an equally impressive and class-leading mileage figure of 34.43kmpkg.
As far as the other specs go, the Celerio’s power and torque output are on par with the 1.0L engine option from the rivals. However, the WagonR 1.2L and Tiago 1.2L manage to outperform, thanks to their larger displacement engies.

Since the Celerio and WagonR use the same 1.0L CNG bi-fuel engine, their mileage figures and fuel costs are almost identical. In this price range, they also offer a decent power and torque output for city and occasional highway use. Whereas, Tiago offers the best power and torque output figures in the segment. The Tiago is also the only one offering an AMT automatic transmission option with the CNG powertrain.
